How to Update Aadhaar Card Online?
As we discussed earlier, only Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) can be updated online. UIDAI has extended the date to update Aadhaar POI/POA online for free till 14 June 2026.
To update your POI and POA on your Aadhaar Card online through the official UIDAI portal, follow the steps provided below:
- First, visit the UIDAI website: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
- Click the “Login” option, available on the homepage.

- Now, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the captcha code.
- Then, click “Send OTP” to receive a one-time password on your registered mobile number.

- Enter the OTP in the designated area and click “Login” to access your Aadhaar dashboard.
- Now, navigate to the “Document Update” section.

- Review the information provided and click “Next” to proceed.

- Verify the Aadhaar details displayed on your screen, tick the declaration box, and continue.

- Here, select the specific details you want to update.

- Now, upload supporting documents to validate your requested changes (e.g., marriage certificate, address proof, identity proof).
- Read the declaration at the bottom of the page, tick the checkbox to accept the terms.
- Click “Next” and then “Submit” to complete your update request.

- A pop-up window will then display, click on the “Okay” button on that.

- Now, submit the form.
- Download the acknowledgement slip for your records.

- Your request will be processed. You can check its status on the UIDAI website.
- Now, you’ll be redirected to your dashboard, where you can scroll down to see your Aadhaar update-related details.
- Initially, the status may show as “verification stage“.

- The status will be updated to reflect the changes once the verification process is complete.

How to Update Aadhaar Card Offline?
If you want to make changes to your Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Address, Mobile Number, Email ID, and Biometric Information on your Aadhaar Card, it is required to first book an appointment at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK). Visit the ASK on the selected date and time with necessary documents and rest of the details along with update form will be provided there.
Now, to book an appointment to Aadhaar Seva Kendra from the official website of UIDAI, follow the steps provided below:
- First, go to the UIDAI website (uidai.gov.in)
- Now, click on “My Aadhaar” > “Book an Appointment“

- Now, to book an appointment to nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre, choose between the UIDAI-run or Registrar-run Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

- Now a login window will open. Here select:
- Select resident type
- Enter your mobile number and captcha
- Submit OTP

- Then, select the “Update Aadhaar” option.

- Choose verification type. In this, you will be presented with two options. One is Document-Based Update, and the other is Guardian/Relationship Proof-Based Update HOF. Here, select the radio button in front of Document-Based Update.
- Now, select the information you want to update.

- Review the provided information, confirm details, and click on Save & Proceed.

- Now, accept the declaration.

- Then, click on “Book Appointment”.

- Now a new page will open. Here, select the date and time as per your convenience.
